“I'm done putting myself in the position where rejection is just part of what I do.
I'm at the end, my nervous system's at the end.
I'm at the end of those big highs and lows, the high-risk, high-reward funding picture.”

Hello lovely community,
How are you? We really LOVE to know, so do let us know in the comments.
If you’re new to the space, hi! I’m Laura, and I write
(although of the whole rebirth theme is a re-invention of my Substack, alongside a big decision to turn on paid! More soon…)I’m writing this post alongside friend, mentor, peer and joy bringer Claire Venus, writer of bestseller Substack
and (we talk about Claire’s decision to have two publications in this post: you won’t want to miss it!)This podcast episode is searingly honest, frequently emotional and a tender celebration of female support, community and the village. We ended our conversation by talking about two values we share: community and connection. With that in mind we are so looking forward to chatting to you in the comments here at Company of Two on Substack.
Here’s the podcast ep again (you’ll also find it on your podcast app of choice!)
With love and rapidly approaching Advent tingles,
Claire and Laura x
P.S. can’t listen right now? Here’s the transcript of our conversation.
A note on privilege. I want to write a whole essay on it but for now let me say I mentioned a holiday and a therapist in the podcast. These are things that found their way to me that I consciously invested in for myself. Infact the holiday was a gift from a friend. We can make snap decisions about a person’s lack of self awareness around privilege hearing this type of information and I wanted to say I am so aware of my privilege every single day. I won’t paint the full picture of everything and how it weaves together but please know I understand that holidays and therapists have co-existed in a space where I have worried about income and how we are going to afford Christmas for the kids.
